A Mindfulness based stress reduction course for adults
Mindfulness meditation practices encourage healthy mental habits which, in turn, have been shown to lead to an improved sense of well-being and better management of stress. This course lasts for 8 weeks so there is time to learn and practice the meditations many times to allow you to develop more healthier brain patterns and ways of living. These practices focus on body awareness, breath awareness and awareness of thoughts through both stillness and movement. By learning to pay attention in this way we are encouraged to develop a more healthy relationship with stress.

TIMES and DATES
This mindfulness based stress reduction course has 8 weekly sessions of 2 hours on Thursdays at 12.30 – 2.30 pm. (There is the chance to attend a one day retreat as well; to deepen your mindfulness practice further on a Saturday from 10 am -3.30 pm.). The dates of the Thursday sessions are:
18th, 25th January,
1st, 8th, 15th February, 22nd February is the Saturday retreat day (10am-3.30pm)
1st, 8th, 15th March. You need to commit to attending each week to complete the course effectively.
This mindfulness based secular stress reduction course is in Shrewsbury and at the lovely Triratna Buddhist Centre, Castlefields, Queen St, Shrewsbury SY1 2JU
COST: £195 for the full 8 week course including the retreat day and the resources.
REMEMBER: mindfulness isn’t about switching off from our experience of life, but rather switching on to what is really happening. It’s about focusing our attention back to the present moment, rather than getting preoccupied with reliving the past or pre-living the future. By focusing on living each moment as it happens, we are able to feel more alive in our bodies and less caught in our minds. With this sense of awareness we are able to turn to our experience as it happens and find a steady place within the busy pace of modern life.
