Mindfulness is known to improve the quality of people’s lives by inviting them to live more fully in the present, rather than getting caught up in thought habits of reliving the past or pre-living the future. It helps us recognise patterns around our thinking which are having a negative impact on our life experiences and, how we manage stress. Mindfulness gently brings us back to our current experience through drawing our attention to the connections between our bodies, feelings and thoughts. Like all skills, it is something that requires time and practice to have an impact. The eight-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) is a well-researched approach which supports this learning, during the weekly sessions and the home practice guidance.
