Come and take part in this online mindfulness based-stress reduction course which starts on Thursday evenings from the end of April 2021.
The course is designed to be easy to access and takes place in a friendly and supportive environment for learning this valuable approach to life’s ups and downs. The online format is a really practical and experiential way of learning so that it still feels like being in the room with everyone.
The programme supports exploration, discovery and friendly awareness of how things are for each person in their life because it introduces a variety of mindfulness practices to support well-being. The course invites you to explore mindfulness-based approaches which are suitable for adults over 18, wishing to learn new ways to respond to stress, whilst developing good well-being along the way.
The course combines learning different mindfulness practices with regular opportunities to reflect together on the effects of bringing mindful attention to ourselves during stillness, movement and everyday life. The health benefits of mindfulness are well-documented and researched and include: Higher brain functioning; Increased immune function; Lowered blood pressure; Lowered heart rate; Increased awareness; Increased attention and focus; Increased clarity in thinking and perception; Lowered anxiety levels; Experience of being calm and internally still; Experience of feeling connected. (positivepsychology.com). This is why the 8 week MBSR course is so popular for learning mindfulness techniques for living.
Mindfulness allows us to connect with our self-awareness and inner understanding by teaching us how to build on everyday mindful awareness. Because it evolves our self-knowledge on a day to day basis, mindfulness is often explained as “paying attention, on purpose, moment by moment, without judging”.
